DETROIT (WWJ) -- Detroit police are searching for multiple suspects after a rash of shootings over the weekend that left two people dead and at least five others injured.

Police tell WWJ an unidentified black male believed to be in his late 20s or early 30s was shot multiple times around 10 p.m. Saturday night. Detroit police responded to a call of a man lying on the ground on Cedar Grove, near 7 Mile Road and Hayes Street on the city's east side. The victim was taken to a hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival. An investigation is ongoing and a suspect has yet to be identified.

A shooting at a BP gas station late Friday night left a 13-year-old boy and a 23-year-old man in critical condition. The suspect turned himself in after his photo was circulated by Detroit media. Authorities said the gunman entered the gas station around 11 p.m. and fired several shots, striking both victims, but it was not clear what led to the shooting.

Detroit police said there were four non-fatal shootings in a three-hour span Saturday night into early Sunday morning, between 11:53 p.m. and 2:41 a.m.

Just before midnight, a 23-year-old black male was at a house party in the 16600 block of Lesure Street on the city's northwest side when an unknown suspect in a silver Chevy Impala opened fire, striking the victim. He was privately taken to a hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.

Police say less than an hour later a 25-year-old black man suffered gunshot wounds to the body near the intersection of Chandler Park and Marlborough on the city's east side. Authorities say a suspect armed with two handguns -- described as a black male with dark complexion, about 5-foot-10, 230 lbs., wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black shorts and a fisherman's hat -- walked up to the victim at a block party and fired multiple shots at him. The victim was privately taken to a hospital and was listed in critical condition.

Just before 2 a.m. a white male in his 30s or 40s was shot in the basement of a home in the 4500 block of Springwells Street in Southwest Detroit. Police said they were called to the location and found the man in the basement, with no suspect found at the location. The victim was transported to a hospital and was listed in critical condition.

Around 2:45 a.m. a 31-year-old black man was shot after an argument in the 11300 block of Coyle Street on the city's west side. He was also taken to a hospital and listed in critical condition, but authorities did not have any information on the suspect.

On Friday night, another non-fatal shooting left another man in critical condition. Police said officers responded to the 8000 block of House Street near Van Dyke on the northeast side to find a 23-year-old man laying in the driveway in the rear of the location, suffering from gunshot wounds to the body. Police say the suspect in that case is unknown and the investigation is still ongoing.

Anyone who knows anything about the suspects or has any information about the shootings should contact Detroit police.

The violence comes amid an uptick in shootings across the city. Two weekends ago, three people were killed and at least 14 others were injured as gunfire broke out all across the city. Police said all three fatal shootings that weekend stemmed from arguments outside of bars.

At the time, Detroit Police Chief said all the shootings could have easily been prevented.

"As you can see when you look at the analysis, too many people are becoming victims based on arguments, disputes that should not be resolved by using a handgun," Craig said.
