DETROIT (WWJ) -- As families all around the world celebrated their mothers on Sunday, hundreds of metro Detroiters showed up to Beacon Park to show their love for mom on Mother's Day 2019.
The downtown Detroit park rolled out the red carpet so families could treat their moms right. From a spa tent, to flowers and fun activities for the kids, there was something for everyone at the celebration.
Simone Vitale of Commerce Township said Mother's Day is an important day to honor an important person.
"Being a mother and raising very good children is a very, very important job and I congratulate all the mothers and those of you who are out there and do a great job, God bless you," he said. "It’s very important to raise a next generation of wonderful human beings."
Lumen Detroit, located near the park, featured several lunch specials for moms and families.
