(WWJ) Two people are hospitalized after a traffic accident that police said started with a driver attempting to pass a Detroit Fire Department truck.
Michigan State Police said a female driver got onto the Southfield Freeway from Seven Mile Road at about 12:45 am. Friday, and that's when she attempted to pass the first responders' vehicle.
She was traveling at a high rate of speed, police said, and lost control of the vehicle. She slammed into the median wall.
The driver and passenger were both transported to the hospital with the driver in critical condition and the passenger in serious condition. MSP told WWJ Newsradio that neither were wearing a safety belt.
