(WWJ) Michigan State Police troopers say they avoided serious injury when their patrol car was sideswiped overnight on a Detroit freeway by the drunken driver of a stolen truck.
Troopers were working on a crash scene on I-94 near Gratiot on the east side when the patrol vehicle was suddenly smashed by a passerby in a truck with a trailer.
The driver kept going.
Troopers managed to chase him down and said he failed a field sobriety test.
In the course of their investigation at the scene it was also discovered the truck and trailer had been stolen from Chesterfield Township.
The driver is now in jail awaiting charges.
