(WWJ) Emergency bridge work will lead to detours for drivers in Dearborn.
The Michigan Department of Transportation says eastbound Ford Road will be down to one lane from Oakman Boulevard to Wyoming Road starting Thursday morning so crews can fix the Miller Road bridge.
The $1.4 million repair is needed because the bridge has been hit several times, officials said. The construction, which was delayed this spring, will provide a smoother driving surface and lengthen the life of the structure, officials say. The project will include median pier replacement, structural steel repairs, railing replacement, epoxy overlay, painting of the steel bridge beams, water main relocation, and bridge approach reconstruction, officials said.
Crews will also close Miller Road from Michigan Avenue to Warren Road. The lane and road closures will last one to two weeks.
