DEARBORN (WWJ) - Ford is recalling nearly 1.5 million cars and trucks related to three problems.

The automaker says the recall involves 1.48 million F-150 trucks from the 2011-2013 model years that may have six-speed transmission shift issues. Ford says the trucks could downshift to first gear without warning, which could make drivers lose control and crash. There have been five reports of accidents and one reported case of whiplash related to the problem.

Ford is also recalling 27,000 2017-19 Lincoln Continentals because door latches may not engage. The issue could increase the potential for the door to open while driving, increasing the risk of injury. No injuries or accidents related to the problem have been reported.

Additionally, 4,200 2019 Ford Mustang, Lincoln Nautilus and Lincoln Navigator vehicles are being called back because of blank instrument panels. No injuries or accidents related to the problem have been reported.

Dealers will repair the issue or update software in the affected vehicles.
