IMLAY CITY (WWJ) - A fourth child has died following a mobile home fire in Imlay City.

Police confirmed to WWJ that a 1-month-old girl who was pulled from the home died early Wednesday morning at the University of Michigan Hospital pediatric burn unit.

The girl's 29-year-old mother, 42-year-old father and 18-month-old brother all remain hospitalized. The extent of their injuries is not known.

Three other children -- a 3-year-old girl and two boys, ages 5 and 6 -- were killed in the fire, which broke out around 3 a.m. Tuesday in the Maple Grove Estates neighborhood on Almont Avenue.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, the home was engulfed in flames and the mother was screaming that her family was still inside.

A cause of the fire remains under investigation. Police Chief Scott Pike said the furnace may have had something to do with the fire.

"Our suspicion is some type of heating element," he said. "We had heard that possibly they were having furnace problems and it was a cold night."

A GoFundMe page established to help the family has already raised more than $13,000.
