CHELSEA (WWJ) - Freezing drizzle and slick roads are to blame for at least one fatal accident and more than 100 other crashes.

Michigan State Police say a man was killed when his car crashed into a jack-knifed semi truck on I-94 near Chelsea around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday. The semi truck driver had lost control of his rig on icy roads, and the man couldn't avoid a collision.

Meantime, troopers in metro Detroit handled more than 100 crashes throughout the morning. Police said many people were driving way too fast for the slick conditions, and way too close to each other.

A state police cruiser, road commission salt truck and courtesy van were struck by drivers going too fast, according to police. No injuries were reported.
