DETROIT (WWJ) - A major Detroit freeway is closed this morning, as a water main break is coating the roadway with ice.
The water main broke around 10:45 p.m. Friday along eastbound I-96 at the Davison, between Grand River Avenue and Joy Road.
Temperatures are so low around zero, the water has frozen on the freeway -- making it too dangerous for traffic to pass.
Eastbound I-96 remains closed between Grand River and Livernois. It's unclear how long the closure will last.
EB 96 CLOSED from Grand River to Livernois for watermain break. Unknown ETA on reopening.
