Laymon Cummings, manager of the Southfield Home Depot there's no experience necessary.
"You can come with your entire knowledge of hardware or you can come without any; it doesn't matter. We're gonna train you and make sure you're ready," he told WWJ's Ron Dewey. I only brought the leadership knowledge, and I've learned quite a bit just through the associates, through the tools, through the training we have."
Cummings said there are career opportunities within the company.
"A lot of these jobs are seasonal, but we will retain some going forward," he said. "So the more you're able to catch up to speed and able to help the customer and do a great job, we will keep you long term."
Along with the garden gig, jobs are available in other departments, too, including overnight freight,, customer service and merchandising.
