(WWJ) An early morning house explosion in Oakland County left two people hospitalized at about 12:30 a.m. Thursday.
The Commerce Township fire chief says firefighters found at least four butane tanks while putting out flames at the rubble of the home on Arbutus Street near Commerce and Newton Roads.
Authorities say the butane could've been used for a marijuana grow operation and extracting oil from marijuana leaves.
The conditions of the two people inside the homes isn't known at this time, but WWJ's Charlie Langton reported their injuries were severe. Oakland County Sheriff's investigators have been called in to help with the investigation.
"It's certainly a very explosive, flammable gas," the Commerce Township police chief told Langton, adding that it raised suspicions of a grow operation.
