How Would You Feel If Your Dream Home Turned Into Your Worst Nightmare?

DETROIT (WWJ) – Everybody wants a piece of the American dream, and one very big piece of that dream is to own a home.  That's one reason Scott and Annie relocate from their fabulous rooftop condo to a beautiful, much larger house in Napa Valley, California.  A home will give them a place with enough room to raise the family they both want. And in Annie's case, it's a chance to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and get back to something reminiscent of her roots growing up in a much smaller community in Indiana. So it's no surprise that when they take a tour of Foxglove – a home that's been on the market for awhile – Annie falls in love with it.  Scott, of course, wants Annie to be happy, so they buy it and move in immediately.  But, even though Charlie, Foxglove's longtime owner, has sold the house, he has a hard time letting go.  He also develops an obsession for Annie, something she doesn't seem to notice, but Scott definitely does.

Annie, who is just naïve to Charlie's attraction towards her, constantly tells Scott that he's imaging things.  Even when Charlie continues to show up unannounced after Scott repeatedly tells him not to, he does so anyway.  And things really get out of hand when Charlie notices Mike, Scott's friend and co-worker, peeking through the window when Mike stops by the house to check on Annie at Scott's request.  Without getting into specifics, so as not to give anything away, let's just say that when Mike realizes that Charlie has seen him, he knows he's made a huge mistake.

The Intruder was directed by longtime independent filmmaker Deon Taylor of Hidden Empire Film Group.  What a major accomplishment for an independently-produced film to get picked up by Sony Pictures and Screen Gems!  As a big proponent for indie filmmakers, I am immensely proud of Taylor and his team for what they've managed to accomplish.  While I do feel that Annie, portrayed by Meagan Good, was just too naïve – even when Charlie's glaring obsessions towards her just kept getting worse and worse – overall, this movie is very well done and it's definitely worth going to see.

Before wrapping up, I would definitely be remiss if I didn't mention that Meagan Good and Michael Ealy have tremendous chemistry and sex appeal.  The two of them together just light up the screen.  And Dennis Quaid was perfectly cast as the obsessive Charlie.  One minute, he seemed perfectly normal, but when the role called for him to be just downright crazy, he did an absolutely phenomenal job.  With these three top-notch actors at the top of their game, what better reason could you possibly need to not let this movie pass you by.

See you at the movies!
