WARREN, Mich. (WWJ) -- An investigation is underway after Macomb County Public Works officials say they discovered a pair of strange substances in a Warren creek.
“Our first actions are always to quickly marshal any needed resources to control the pollution and limit the impact to the environment,” Public Works Commissioner Candice S. Miller said in a press release. “Now, with these controls in place, we will work to discover where this pollution is coming from and take any necessary remedial steps.”
Bear Creek is a county drain that takes in snow melt and storm water and delivers it to the Clinton River and, ultimately, Lake St. Clair.
“Our first priority is to protect Lake St. Clair and our Great Lakes. When we find a problem, we fix it and that will be our approach to this as well,” Miller said.
MCPWO staff have collected samples from the area and will be running tests to attempt to determine what the substances are.
