LANSING (WWJ/AP) - An investigation is underway after someone broke into two vehicles at Governor Gretchen Whitmer's home in Lansing.

Michigan State Police arrested one suspect Friday morning. The Ingham County Prosecutor's office will determine charges.

No information about what was stolen was released, and police wouldn't say if the governor or her family was home when the thefts occurred.

The Governor's official residence is gated with security cameras and armed guards. Part of the investigation involves how the suspect got onto the property.

State police spokeswoman Shanon Banner told The Detroit News the suspect made no attempt to enter the residence itself.

Gov. Whitmer moved into the home with her family after taking office in January.

Whitmer spokeswoman Tiffany Brown told newspaper that the state police's "expertise and quick action" were appreciated.
