DETROIT (WWJ) -- The search is on for a group of suspects police say are responsible for a drive-by triple shooting that left a man dead and two others in the hospital.

Detroit police tell WWJ around 5 p.m. Monday six to eight people in two vehicles pulled up to a house in the 13000 block of Stoepel near Livernois on the city's west side and ambushed the house, fatally shooting a 19-year-old man.

Police said two other 19-year-old men were inside when they heard somebody in one of the vehicles say "there he is" before the shooting started. They then went outside and were both shot. One of them was shot in the right ankle and the other suffered a gunshot wound to his left thigh. Both were taken to a hospital by medics and are listed in stable condition.

The suspects were in a blue Jeep Cherokee and a green Nissan car.

Police are still investigating and did not say what the motive behind the shooting was.

Anyone with information about the shooting should contact the Detroit Police Department.
