DETROIT (WWJ) - The search is on for a pair of gunmen who killed a man and wounded another at a traffic stop on Detroit's west side.
The incident happened just after 11 p.m. Friday on an unknown side street in a neighborhood near 7 Mile and Evergreen roads.
Police say the victims were in a white 2003 Mercedes Benz, stopped at a stop sign, when two men approached the vehicle and asked if they wanted to buy some marijuana. The driver said no and tried to escape, according to police, but the vehicle's tires just spun on the icy roadway. At that point, both suspects pulled out guns and fired multiple shots at the vehicle.
The driver, a 19-year-old man, drove to the 6800 block of Brace and called the police for help. He was struck in the leg and taken to the hospital for treatment.
A 20-year-old man who was sitting in the front seat was struck in the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 23-year-old man who was sitting in the back seat was not injured.
The first suspect is described as a black man with a light complexion and 5'10" tall with a slim build. He was wearing a blue hoodie.
The second suspect is described as a black man wearing a black hoodie.
