
DETROIT (WWJ) - One person is dead and another is hospitalized after an apparent drug deal erupted in gunfire on Detroit's west side.
The incident unfolded around 1:25 a.m. Thursday outside of the Capitol Liquor Store on Schaefer Highway, south of I-96.
According to police, the victims were at the location to buy narcotics when two gunmen in a white Dodge minivan pulled up and started shooting.
A 39-year-old man was struck multiple times and declared dead at the scene. A 34-year-old woman was taken to the hospital in temporary serious condition.
The suspects fled the scene, going south on Schaefer, and remain at large. Both suspects are described as black men, age 18-20. One is described as having a light complexion and dreadlocks.
