Man Shot In Head Camping In Michigan, Police Seeking Info From Hunters

A man was shot in the head while camping in mid-Michigan's Sidney Township early Tuesday morning.

Deails are scant except that at 7 a.m., the Michigan State Police Lakeview Post got a call saying a man had been shot in the head while camping on public land near W. Colby Road and M-66 in Montcalm Township.

Officers and EMS found a man bleeding from the head with no idea of how it had happened.

The man was transported to Spectrum Health United Hospital in Greenville where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries to his head, according to police.

The bullet was not self inflicted, but where it came from no one knows.

"We don't know what happened, that's why we're asking the public for help," a local trooper told WWJ.

Troopers are asking that anyone who has information about the incident -- or anyone who may have been hunting in the area when it happened -- to contact the Michigan State Police at 989-352-8444.
