Man Shot While Driving In Detroit, Crashes Into Fire Station

DETROIT (WWJ) - A gunshot victim who crashed into a Detroit fire station is now fighting for his life.

Police say the man was shot in his back, lost control of his car and then slammed into the front bay door of the firehouse on West Grand Boulevard. It happened just before 11 p.m. Friday near the I-94 and I-96 interchange on the west side.


Medics transported the man, said to be in his late 30s, to the hospital. He was last reported in critical condition. 

Other circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear. At this point, it's not known if the victim was targeted or if this was a random shooting. 

The gunman remains at large as an investigation continues.
