DETROIT (WWJ) -- Detroit police are searching for a suspect in a non-fatal shooting after preparations for Independence Day turned violent.
Police say just after midnight on July 2 a 16-year-old male was in the 15000 block of Joy Road between near the intersection of Greenfield Road on the city's west side, attempting to purchase fireworks from a tent ahead of the Fourth of July holiday weekend.
The teen, whose name has not been released, was shot by a 31-year-old man inside the tent. The victim was taken to a local hospital and treated for his injuries. It was not clear what led up to the shooting.
