LEXINGTON, Ky. (WWJ) -- A family of five from Northville was killed in a fiery crash along I-75 in Kentucky early Sunday morning.
Police say around 2:30 a.m. a white pickup truck collided head-on with the family's SUV and both vehicles burst into flames.
Authorities say they had received several 911 calls about the truck driving the wrong way on northbound I-75 just prior to the crash, about a mile before the Man 'o War Boulevard exit.
The Fayette County Coroner confirmed to WWJ that 42-year-old Issam Abbas, Dr. Rima Abbas, 38, and their three children, died in the accident. The children have been identified as Ali Abbas, 14; Isabella Abbas, 13, and Giselle Abbas, 7.
Dr. Rima Abbas, 38, is a physician at the Beaumont Medical Center in Garden City, specializing in family medicine. She is also affiliated with Beaumont Hospital Wayne, according to the Beaumont website.
The driver of the pickup truck, a 41-year-old Joey Bailey of Georgetown, Kentucky, was also killed in the crash.
Though a toxicology report is pending, the coroner says alcohol was likely a factor in the crash.
The northbound lanes near the crash were closed for several hours during the clean-up and investigation, but have since reopened.
Lexington Police are asking anyone who saw the white Chevy truck before the crash to contact them, as they are trying to reconstruct the accident to help with the investigation.
