MASON, Mich. (WWJ) - A Michigan man has been charged with murder in the deaths of two women found fatally beaten after he allegedly showed cell phone photos of their bodies to deputies during a traffic stop.
Kiernan Brown, 27, of Delta Township was scheduled to be arranged Tuesday afternoon in 55th District Court in Mason, according to the Ingham County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities have identified the victims as 26-year-old Kaylee Ann Brock of Holt and 32-year-old Julie Ann Mooney of Williamston, Michigan.
Police began searching for Brown early in the morning of Friday, May 10, after his ex-girlfriend called 911 to report that he was violating a personal protection order by knocking on her door and sending disturbing text messages saying he "had been ridding the demons of some dear friends," but he loved and would spare her.
The woman, who was not among the victims, did not let him in.
Deputies tracked down and stopped Brown a short time later in nearby Eaton County.
"And on the traffic stop he tells the deputies, 'Hey, I've got some images I wanna show you on my phone'," Ingham County Sheriff Scott Wriggelsworth told WWJ's Dayna Clark. "And those images appeared to us to be two dead females."
The victims were then found dead in their homes. Both were killed byblunt force trauma to the head, authorities said.
The sheriff said he believes Brown was on a "killing spree" and that his quick capture saved lives.
"An even more creepy part of the story is, after he was arrested and as we continued to investigate this, it appears to us that he at least three more victims on his mind to kill that night," said Wriggelsworth, "but Eaton County caught him before he could do that."
Michigan Department of Corrections records show Brown has a criminal history, with convictions for larceny, home invasion, assault and resisting arrest. He was listed as a parole absconder as of May 2 of this year.
The investigation into this case is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Ingham County Sheriff's Office at 517-676-8257 or Meridian Township Police at 517-853-4800
