(WWJ) School hasn't been held in-person for months for many, but there's still plenty of work to be done planning and executing instruction for Michigan's kids.

But how much money are the leaders of these districts earning to make the tough calls?

Turns out, Roseville's school district superintendent tops the list when it comes to compensation for Michigan school administrators.

A new report from the Mackinac Center For Public Policy says the districts with the highest paid superintendents are Roseville at nearly $410,000, Detroit at $399,000 and West Ottawa at nearly $384,000. Outside of metro Detroit, Traverse City's superintendent pulls down a whopping $486,000 a year.

The figures include the superintendent's salaries, pensions and other benefits.

Other Metro Detroit districts in the top ten are in River Rouge where the superintendent's compensation is $375,000 and Rochester where the pay is nearly $360,000. Near the bottom of the list are superintendents from the Algonac and Wayne-Westland districts, who didn't even crack $36,000 a year.

Superintendents downriver tend to make about $200,000 a year -- including Trenton, Huron, Gibraltar, and Wyandotte. The Troy superintendent makes nearly $300,000 while the neighboring superintendent in Royal Oak makes $100,000 a year less.
