WWJ -- Consumers are being urged to check their freezers, as an Ohio company is recalling nearly 175,000 lbs. of frozen Boston Market dinners because they could contain shards of glass or plastic.
Bellisio foods, based in Jackson, Ohio, has issued a recall for 14-oz. packages of Boston Market Homestyle Meals: Boneless Pork Rib-Shaped Patty with BBQ Sauce and Mashed Potatoes.
The packages are labeled with Best By dates of December 7th, 2019 and were shipped to stores all across the country -- including Meijer and Kroger stores throughout Metro Detroit. The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 18297” on the end carton flap of the package.
The problem was discovered when the establishment received consumer complaints of glass or hard plastic extraneous material in the rib shaped patty. USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service was notified on Feb. 22, 2019.
FSIS is concerned that some product may be frozen and in consumers’ freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
Bellisio Foods says, so far, there have been no confirmed reports of injuries due to contaminated products.
Consumers with concerns or questions about the recall can contact Bellisio Foods at (855) 871-9977.
