(WWJ) An Ann Arbor man is jailed on attempted murder and other felony charges in the shooting a young woman.
Eric Tyronne Gibbons, 35, was arraigned on Sunday in connection with the shooting last Wednesday night, in the parking lot of a business on Packard Ave. in Ann Arbor.
According to police, Gibbons and the victim, a 24-year-old woman, knew each other and had been attending a house party in Ann Arbor prior to the shooting. The victim survived, although police did not say how badly she was wounded.
Afterward, Gibbons fled to an Ann Arbor hotel, where he stayed until investigators found him there on Friday.
Ann Arbor police officers, with help from Michigan State Police and Pittsfield Township Police, tracked down and arrested Gibbons after he fled on foot from the hotel.
He is lodged in the Washtenaw County jail charged with the following: Assault with intent to Murder, Assault with a dangerous Weapon, Felon in possession of a firearm and Felon in possession of ammunition.
Michigan Department of Corrections records show Gibbons has a criminal history, including convictions for home invasion and felonious assault dating back as far as 2002.
Police said the gun used in the shooting has been recovered.
