WEST BLOOMFIELD, Mich., (WWJ) -- A man is beginning the New Year in police custody after a barricaded gunman situation unfolded at a West Bloomfield hotel early Wednesday morning.
West Bloomfield Police say they got a call around 2 a.m. on the report of a disturbance at the Hampton Inn on Northwestern Highway and Orchard Lake. When authorities arrived, a naked woman was running in the hallway, saying she'd been abused by her husband, who had barricaded himself inside their hotel room with a gun.
The West Bloomfield Crisis Response Team had on-and-off contact with the man, who wound up surrendering to police just before 10:30 a.m.
Police say the couple is from out of town and was attending a New Year's Eve party and both are believed to be intoxicated at the time of the incident.
The woman was taken to the hospital with undisclosed injuries, and police did not disclose her condition.
