DETROIT (WWJ) - Police are investigating a possible homicide after a body was found burned beyond recognition following a house fire on Detroit's near east side.
The fire took off early Tuesday morning at a home on Minnesota Street, in a neighborhood off John R between McNichols and 7 Mile roads.
After the flames were extinguished, firefighters found the body of a person burned beyond recognition in the debris. No other details about the victim have been released.
Other circumstances surrounding the fire, including a cause, weren't immediately clear.
Detroit Police homicide investigators are now on the case. An investigation is ongoing.
