(WWJ) A four-day search for a missing Indiana girl has come to a tragic end.

According to Indiana State Police, the body of 10-year-old Skylea Rayn Carmack was found, early Wednesday morning,  hidden inside a plastic trash bag in a shed behind her home in Gas City, southwest of Fort Wayne.

Her stepmother, 34-year-old Amanda Carmack, had been arrested and charged with the following: Neglect of a dependent resulting in death, domestic battery resulting in death, and strangulation.  She is currently incarcerated at the Grant County Jail.

In a news release, police said preliminary evidence indicates that Skylea was killed approximately between the hours of 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m., on Aug. 31, and that it is believed she was strangled. An autopsy will be conducted to verify her cause of death.

Multiple multiple law enforcement agencies, fire departments and community volunteers participated in the search for Skylea, after her parents reported her missing.
