(WWJ) An Oakland County man has been ordered held without bond, charged with first degree premeditated murder in the slaying of his girlfriend.

Vincent Merrill, 50, of Springfield Township, was arranged in 52-1 District Court Sunday on the murder charge, as well as one count of using a firearm in the commissions of a felony.

Last Wednesday, the Oakland County Sheriff's Office responded to a home in the 9200 block of Cherrywood Rd., after officials say Merrill called 911 to report he had just killed his girlfriend.

Deputies and EMS arrived on the scene to find Merrill sitting on the grass outside the house. When they asked him what happened, he allegedly replied, "I shot and killed her."

Inside the home, deputies found the 60-year-old victim dead, with multiple gunshot wounds. Deputies also found a .380 semi-automatic handgun, which is believed to be the murder weapon.

Merrill was arrested without incident at the scene, and lodged in the Oakland County Jail. He will remain jailed as he awaits his next court date which is set for next Monday, Sept. 14.

Authorities have not released any further details about the case, including about a possible motive or what led up to the killing.

The victim's name has also not been released.
