(WWJ) A metro Detroit man tracked to Tennessee after he allegedly murdered his mother is back in Michigan, behind bars.

Authorities said Mohamed Ali Saad was arraigned Wednesday after being extradited from Bradley County, Tennessee, and was ordered held without bond.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged the 32-year-old Dearborn Heights resident with first degree, premeditated murder in connection with the slaying in the 27000 block of Simone Street two weeks ago.

At around 7 p.m. on April 16, Dearborn Heights Police Department received a 911 call to a home about a 64-year-old woman. When officers arrived, they found Fatemah Ibrahim Saad of Dearborn Heights in the basement, suffering from multiple stab wounds to her neck. She was treated by EMS at the scene but succumbed to her injuries.

According to prosecutors, it's alleged that Mohamed Saad fatally stabbed his mother multiple times before fleeing in the victim's Jeep to Tennessee, where he was found on Saturday.

He was arrested there as a result of a coordinated effort by the Dearborn Heights Police Department, the U.S. Marshall's Office and the Tennessee Highway Patrol, authorities said.

Saad will remain jailed as he awaits his next court appearance, and Probable Cause Conference scheduled for May 13, in 20th District Court in Dearborn Heights.

"Clearly, acts of domestic violence abound in Wayne County during non-pandemic times," Worthy said in a statement. "The alleged facts in this case illustrate the potential for domestic violence in the age of the COVID-19 pandemic.  As I stated last week, it is expected that because families are at home and together more than usual, incidents of family violence may be more prevalent.  Please know that there is help available for families in crisis before these tragedies occur.  Please seek that help." The public is urged to contact these community partners who provide resources for domestic violence and sexual assault victims:
