Carjacking Caught On Surveillance Camera At Gas Station On Detroit's West Side

DETROIT (WWJ) -- Detroit police are asking for help in identifying a trio of suspects that were caught on camera carjacking a man and a woman coming out of a gas station on the city's west side last month.

Police say just before 3 a.m. on Sept. 28, two victims were inside the gas station when a silver Ford Taurus pulled in the parking lot and waited for them to come out. As the victims walked out to their 2018 black Nissan, one suspect got out of the Ford and pulled a gun on them, demanding their personal property.

Two other suspects got out of the car, searched the victims and took their belongings, before one man got in the Nissan and drove out of the parking lot behind the other two suspects in the Ford.

Police describe the suspect who pulled the gun on the victims as a heavy set black male, approximately 6-foot-3, 280 lbs. The suspect who drove the victims' car away is described as a male, about 5-foot-6, with an average build. He was last seen wearing a dark colored hooded wind breaker and light blue jeans.

The third suspect was described as about 5-foot-6, with an average build and wearing a hooded sweater and blue jeans.

Anyone who has any information regarding the incident, or anyone who may recognize the suspects or vehicles, is asked to call Commercial Auto Theft at 313-596-2555. Calls can also be made anonymously Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Speak Up.
