DETROIT (WWJ) - A 39-year-old man is behind bars in Detroit, accused of setting a woman's house on fire, killing one of her pets.
Authorities say it happened back on Nov. 20, at a home in the 17100 block of Trinity Street, in the area of McNichols and Grand River Ave.
Prosecutors allege that Marion Scuggs got into an argument with a female acquaintance late that night, and then "deliberately" lit the woman's house on fire.
Firefighters were able to save one of the woman's two dogs; but the other, found unconscious, didn't make it.
Scruggs was arraigned in 34th District Court in Romulus Sunday on charges of Second Degree Arson and Second Degree Killing/Torturing of an Animal.
He remains held on a $75,000/10% bond awaiting his next court appearance, a probable cause conference, is scheduled for Dec. 27 before Judge Stanford Jones in 36th District Court. A preliminary exam in the case set for Jan. 3, 2020.
