DETROIT (WWJ) - A Detroit woman is facing charges for the fatal shooting of her husband during a fight.
Jessica Washington, 33, is charge by the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office wit one count of second degree murder and one count of felony firearm.
Just after 2:15 a.m. Sunday, Detroit police officers were called to the couples home in the 8280 block of Artesian in Detroit.
There, authorities said, they found 30-year-old Toney Washington lying in the front door area of the home. The man was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, and his wife was arrested at the scene.
It is alleged, according to prosecutors, that Jessica Washington got into an argument with her husband over her phone, and that the argument turned physical. During the physical fight, prosecutors say, is when she shot her husband with a handgun.
Bond was set at $30,000 cash at an arraignment Tuesday in 36th District Court. It's unclear at this time if the defendant posted bond or if she remains in the Wayne County Jail.
Her next court date is set for April 21
