DETROIT (WWJ) -- Detroit police need the public's help in bringing home a missing woman who suffers from mental illness.

Authorities say 53-year-old Leslie Shaw was upset and left her home in the 12000 block of Grayfield -- in the west-side Castle Rouge neighborhood, near Outer Drive and Schoolcraft -- around 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Shaw hasn't been seen or heard from since and her family is worried and believe she may harm herself due to her mental condition.

Police describe the woman as about 5-foot-3, 112 lbs., with "reddish-brown" hair. The woman also wears glasses. She was last seen wearing a thin black jacket, blue jeans, black and white Converse shoes, and carrying a white purse.

Though Shaw suffers from the mental condition, police say she is in good physical condition.

Anyone who has seen Leslie Shaw or knows of her whereabouts asked to call the Detroit Police Department's Sixth Precinct Investigative Unit at 313-596-5640 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
