(WWJ) -- The holiday season is well underway and one Michigan town is in the spotlight for its love of Christmas.

Frankenmuth, Mich., was recently named the best city in America to get in the holiday spirit by VacationRenter.com.

If you're looking to take a little trip this holiday season, Frankenmuth is located less than two hours north of Detroit, between Flint and Saginaw, and offers great Christmas vibes and lots to do.

The small town of around 5,000 people known for its German roots and Bavarian-style architecture dubbed by TIME as one of America's "Most Christmassy Towns." It's home to Bronner's CHRISTmas Wonderland, which claims to be the world's largest Christmas town. It's the size of one and a half football fields and shines more than 50,000 lights at its "Christmas Lane" year-round.

The list by VacationRenter suggests visitors also visit The Old Christmas Station Restaurant for wide range of festive holiday dishes and Christmas cookies, before checking out their museum of antique tree ornaments.

Visitors can take a horse-drawn carriage ride along snow-covered streets and wander through Michigan’s Little Bavaria’s outdoor European-style pop up holiday marketplace.

"Near the holidays, the whole town of Frankenmuth radiates with twinkling lights and star streamers, making it an ideal location to find those sought-after holiday vibes," VacationRenter says.

The other cities on the list include Asheville, NC, St. Augustine, Fla., Leavenworth, Wash., and North Pole Alaska.
