DETROIT (WWJ) - Police are trying to track down a gunman who shot and injured a woman during an altercation at a coney island in Detroit on New Year's Day.
The shooting took place just before 4 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 1 at Galaxy Coney Island on Grand River Avenue at Schaefer Highway, just off I-96 on the city's west side.
According to police, the suspect became involved in a verbal altercation with a 22-year-old woman inside the restaurant.
The altercation continued outside of the restaurant and when the victim attempted to leave in a silver Hyundai Sonata, the suspect fired shots.
The victim, who was struck at least once, left the location and called 911 for help.
The suspect fled the scene and remains at large. Police released surveillance footage of the incident in hopes that someone will be able to identify the suspect.
