DETROIT (WWJ) - Police say a man who was trying to break into a home in Detroit ended up in the hospital, and under arrest, after he was shot by the homeowner.
The incident unfolded around 1:15 a.m. Friday when the 49-year-old suspect attempted to kick in the rear door of a home in the 19700 block of Goddard, near Outer Drive and Conant Street.
The 58-year-old victim, who was home at the time, allegedly fired a shot through the door, striking the suspect.
As officers arrived at the scene, the suspect was observed fleeing and was apprehended in the area of Conant and Goddard. He was taken into custody and transported to the hospital in temporary serious condition.
