(WWJ) Slick roads Up North led to a fatal crash over the weekend.
According to the Cheboygan County Sheriff's Office, a 20-year-old man was killed Sunday night after he lost control of his Buick Lucerne on I-75, hit another car, slid into a ditch and rolled over.
Investigators said speed and icy roads were factors in the crash, at around 9:20 p.m., at mile marker 317, near Topinabee.
The victim, identified as Parker Dagenais of Fenton, was wearing his seatbelt and alcohol was not involved, officials said.
"This is an unfortunate and tragic accident and our hearts go out to the family” said Cheboygan County Sheriff Dale Clarmont, in a statement.
Another driver whose car slid into the ditch in the same area prior to this crash suffered minor injuries, according to the sheriff's office.
This was one of four crashes in Northern Michigan Sunday night, as the weather changed from rain to sleet to freezing rain.
