On Dec. 20, green ooze leaked out onto the I-696 expressway - it was caused due to a company that did not handle its toxic chemical wastes according to the law for decades.
The owner is now in prison as state and federal environmental agencies figure out what to do next.
This week on "In Depth" from WWJ, host Rob St. Mary digs into the contamination at the Electro Plating Services in Madison Heights by going on "The Ooze Cruise" and talking to state and local environmental law officials.
Featured on the show are Bridget Quinn with AWE Society, State Representative Lori Stone, Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy Spokesperson Jill Greenberg, and University of Detroit-Mercy Environmental Law Professor Nick Schroeck.
