
BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WWJ) -- It's almost time to get out on the golf course, but one Oakland County man may not be able to, as he is facing retail fraud charges after attempting to steal golfing equipment from Carl's Golfland.
Police say 36-year-old Matthew Brenneman of Pontiac was arrested on March 13 after officers watched him enter the store at 1976 Telegraph Road and conceal a $550 range finder.
Bloomfield Township officers stopped Brenneman shortly after he left the store. That's when they also found he had concealeda $429 putter in the sleeve of his jacket.
Brenneman was arraigned in 48th District Court in front of Magistrate Andra Richardson.
He was charged with first-degree retail fraud and given a cash bond of $5,000. He was lodged in the Oakland County Jail.
