(WWJ) A driver is in custody after authorities say he dragged a Michigan State Police trooper, and busted through a toll booth at the Mackinac Bridge.
Michigan State Police say it all began at around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday when the Alger County Sheriff's Office was in pursuit of the "reckless driver" of white Chevy Tahoe with Iowa plates.
A BOL was put out, and an MSP trooper blocked the driver in at the Mackinac Bridge toll gate area.
When the suspect allegedly refused to turn off the vehicle, the trooper reached inside to do it. That's when police say the driver put the vehicle in reverse, dragging the trooper a short distance.
The driver hit two other vehicles before crashing through the toll gate and speeding away, headed south on I-75.
Several agencies assisted during a case that ended in Emmet County's Resort Township, after the suspect eluded officers in Petoskey.
Later, officers from the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians Police Department, in northern lower Michigan, found the Tahoe abandoned.
Law enforcement set up a perimeter and a search began, with the MSP K9 team, and Emergency Support Personnel, U.S. Coast Guard helicopter and MSP Aviation Unit all assisting.
The suspect was eventually identified as a 47-year-old Harbor Springs man.
He was found by the MSP Fugitive Team at a condominium in Harbor Springs Thursday morning and arrested.
The man was taken to the Mackinac County Jail where he awaits an arraignment on numerous felony charges.
The trooper who was dragged — a sergeant with the MSP St. Ignace Post — was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
