Manhunt Underway For Alleged Killer Linked To Crimes Downriver And In Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police and federal authorities are searching for a man wanted in connection with multiple murders.

Kenyel Brown, 40, has been identified as a person of interest in a murder Thursday night at Next Level Custom Tees on 8 Mile Rd.  on the city's east side.


A 41-year-old man as found fatally shot inside the business, police said. 

"In addition to that he's also wanted for two homicides out of the city of River Rouge...and there are other additional violent crimes that he is a person of interest in the Downriver community," Detroit Capt. Jonathan Parnell told told reporters Friday.

Parnell said Brown has two active felony warrants out for his arrest, and should be considered armed and dangerous. 

Brown was last seen in a 2008-2012 black Dodge Caravan (pictured) with Texas license plate NZL 7787.

"With the help of U.S. Marshals and our DFAT (Detroit Fugitive Apprehension Team) Task Force with Detroit police we are actively looking for him. We are requesting the public's help," Parnell said. 

Aaron Garcia with the U.S. Marshals said they've been looking for Brown for about two weeks in connection with a triple shooting Jan. 30 in the 500 block of Beechwood in River Rouge.

Two people were killed and a third was injured at a public housing complex.

"Every day he's out there is a risk or a threat that somebody else could get killed out there," Garcia said.

A reward of $5,000 to $10,000 is now being offered for information that leads to an arrest in this case.
