Marriage Advice For Men: Marry A Nurse If You Want To Be Happy

(WWJ) - Some advice for men: Numerous studies say if you want to be happily married, marry a nurse.

Nurses make great wives because they're strong and sensitive, and they know what's important in life, according to thoughtcatalog.com.

"I would agree with that," said Jennifer Rogers, a registered nurse from Rockwood who has been happily married for 12 years. "I'm an ER nurse, I used to be in the ICU downtown Detroit, and working in the ER has definitely made me a lot tougher now. I think my husband would definitely agree with that. But then you're also, it's a job to be sensitive to people's needs. So it's definitely both ends of the spectrum there, for sure."

Rogers said nurses often appreciate their families more because they see firsthand just how fragile life is.

"It's easy to see what is so easily lost, you know, we see so quickly and so on a regular basis life just unexpectedly walks," she said. "And so, it's easy to look back and look at all the things that you have to be grateful and thankful for."

The biggest drawback to being with a nurse, in Rogers opinion, is they may be little bossy.

"Honestly, doctors, they may write the orders and they may say ultimately what they want done for a patient but nurses are the ones who do it and who make sure it gets implemented," she said. "There's many, many people who we come in contact with who take care of our patients, whether it be different staff or whoever we're working with, so we tend to be the ones who make the call and tell everybody how to take care of everything. So, I would definitely say that carries over to our home life and every other facet of our life, as well, that we definitely tend to be the bossy ones. I would say that's a perfect word for us."
