HARRISON TWP. (WWJ) - A murder suspect is in custody after fleeing arrest by task force officers in Macomb County.
The Macomb County Sheriff's Office said Monday night that 32-year-old Clint Washington, Jr. of Harrison Township was arrested on Livernois near the Davison Freeway Monday night, following an incident on Nicoll Street near of N. Pointe Pky. and 16 Mile Rd. Monday morning.
"Our dispatch received multiple calls from residents that there were shots being fired," said Sgt. Renee Yax. "One of the callers indicated that of the several cars that were fleeing the area, multiple cars were blacked out Dodge Charges with with people wearing police-type vests in them."
Yax said it's believed that officers with the Detroit - Wayne County Violent Crimes Reduction Task Force were attempting to pick up Washington on a warrant in that area when shots were fired.
According to Detroit police, Washington got into his car and drove at officers who fired two shots. No injuries were reported.
He fled the scene of the shooting in a silver Toyota Camry with a Georgia license plate, westbound on I-94.
Washington has several warrants for his arrest, including a felony warrant for murder in Detroit, according to Detroit police.
Melissa Clark, a resident in the area the shooting took place, says she heard it all unfold shortly after she woke up.
"I heard three (gunshots). I took cover. I was like, 'whoa,'" Clark told WWJ.
Charges are pending.
