TROY (WWJ) - "It's worth the wait." That's a sentiment shared by dozens of people -- some who waited more than an hour to get their hands on free sanitizer in Metro Detroit.
The owners of Emergency Restoration in Troy had 75 gallons of hand sanitizer to give out to the public for free on Thursday.
More than an hour before the giveaway started, people started lining up in their cars in front of the business. By the time the giveaway started at noon, the line of vehicles waiting for sanitizer stretched down the block as far as the eye could see.
Reporting live from the scene, WWJs Charlie Langton estimated nearly 100 vehicles were waiting in line.
The owners said they distributed the sanitizer as a way to give back to the community. The only catch was you had to bring your own container.
The company is located on 14 Mile Road between John R and Dequindre roads in Troy.
