(WWJ) Police now know who he was, but they don't know yet where he lived.

Lansing police investigators are asking the public for information about a man who was struck and killed by a train last week.

According to police, the victim in the crash in the 1200 block of S. Washington, 600 feet west of the street, has been identified as 55-year-old James Paul Timmer.

While it's believed he was a resident of Lansing, police are looking for the public’s assistance with locating Timmer's home. Information indicates he had recently rented a place, police said.

If you are a landlord and recently rented to Timmer or you know where he lived, you are asked to call Lansing Police Sergeant Don Porter at 517-483-4667

Police said they do not know why Timmer was on the tracks, early in the morning of Thursday, June 18.  No one else was injured.
