Police Targeting Drivers On Lodge Freeway, M-59 And Van Dyke On Wednesday

(WWJ) - Drivers beware: Police are going to be out and about on Wednesday conducting special patrols. 

Michigan State Police, along with sheriff's deputies from Oakland and Macomb counties, will be looking for distracted driving, reckless and careless driving, speeding drivers and drivers without seatbelts.

Deputies will be focusing on M-59 and the Van Dyke Freeway from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., and then again from 8 p.m. until midnight. 

Troopers will also be out on the Lodge Freeway from 8 Mile Road to Jefferson Avenue in downtown Detroit, from 8 p.m. until midnight. 

The special patrols are part of what State Police are calling "Drive Right Wednesday."
