HOLLY (WWJ) - Police have launched what they say will be a lengthy investigation after a runaway boy led them to child porn on his father's computer.
The situation unfolded just after 7 p.m. Friday when troopers were dispatched to a home in the 11000 block of N Holly Road, south of I-75, for a runaway complaint.
The juvenile runaway told troopers that he found pornographic materials involving children on his dad's tablet. Child Protective Services was notified and the boy was placed with other family members.
Troopers went to the boy's home and made contact with his father. A search warrant was obtained and executed, during which a large amount of evidence was located including sexual materials involving children, according to police.
"The home is extremely cluttered and the search is going to take a long amount of time," police said in a statement. "There is materials in the home spanning over many years... this will be a lengthy investigation."
Police are utilizing a specialized cyber dog, which is trained to seek out different kinds of cyber hardware, to search the residence.
The suspect is currently being detained as the investigation continues.
