DETROIT (WWJ) - As the coronavirus continues to spread, the Salvation Army is shutting down its thrift stores and donations centers across the state.
The organization says its 35 Family Thrift Store locations and donation centers are closed effective immediately. The stores will reopen at a later date once the safety of everyone is no longer at risk.
Additionally, residential pickup service will also be temporarily halted.
Organizers made the decision to close the stores to protect employees and shoppers.
The Salvation Army says they're reminding the public to refrain from dropping off donations during this time. The donation centers will be unmanned and unable to accept donations.
Updates about The Salvation Army Family Thrift Stores will be communicated through their Facebook page.
