(WWJ) A Sterling Heights man has been ordered held without bond, charged with first degree murder in a shooting outside a barbershop.

Police arrested 31-year old David Salam-Mikha Kanouna shortly after 30-year-old Sharaz Hussain of Sterling Heights was shot Saturday night at The Barber Company, on Mound Road south of 17 Mile Rd.

Hussain was reportedly helping a friend get ready to reopen the barbershop when he was gunned down. Police said 911 calls came in at around  9:15 p.m. about gunfire at the Fox Hill Plaza, and they arrived to find Hussain dead with obvious gunshot wounds.

Hussain and Kanouna knew each other, according to investigators, but a motive for the killing is unclear.

Detectives are still trying to find out what led up to the shooting.

Kanouna was remanded into custody in the Macomb County Jail following his arraignment in 41-A District Court Tuesday, and will remain in jail while the case moves through the courts.

Kanouna faces faces a mandatory sentence of life prison without parole if convicted on the first degree murder charge. He also faces a charge of using a firearm in commission of a felony.
